The provincial cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has approved the budget for the fiscal year 2026–27. During the meeting, the Chief Minister signed the budget document, officially giving it approval.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that the provincial budget is focused on public relief and development projects. She stated that despite financial challenges and global economic conditions, the government has tried not to impose any new tax burden on the public.
She appreciated the performance of cabinet members and relevant departments, praising Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, and Information Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari for their efforts. The Chief Minister also commended Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Finance Secretary Mujahid Sher Dil, and the entire team.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif also directed the Punjab Revenue Authority to take further steps to increase revenue. She said the entire team has worked like one unit to provide relief to the public.
She added that despite sharing resources with the federal government, efforts were made to minimize the financial burden on citizens. According to the Chief Minister, this is a budget of hope and public prosperity, aimed at utilizing resources for public welfare.
