A court in Iran has sentenced well-known singer Parastoo Ahmadi and eight additional members of her music group “Caravanserai Concert” to 74 lashes each over allegations of publishing indecent content on the internet. The verdict has attracted both national and international attention following the court’s decision.

According to foreign media reports, the ruling was issued by a court in the religious city of Qom. In its judgment, the court cited Islamic laws and relevant legal provisions, stating that the accused had disseminated content deemed contrary to public morality and social values.

The court also imposed additional restrictions on Parastoo Ahmadi. According to the ruling, the singer will be banned from traveling abroad for two years and will also be prohibited from participating in various artistic and musical activities. These restrictions apply to both professional and public performances.

The judgment further ordered that details of the sentence be published in national media so that the public is informed about the case and its outcome. Authorities maintain that the accused posted online content that undermined public modesty and moral standards.

It is worth noting that Iran has relatively strict laws regarding social media and online content, and authorities have periodically taken legal action in such cases. The recent ruling has once again sparked debate on freedom of expression, artistic liberty, and social media regulations in the country.
