Rising tensions in the Middle East have severely affected the expected technical talks between the United States and Iran, causing a temporary halt in diplomatic progress.
According to Arab media reports, following Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon, the Iranian delegation canceled its scheduled visit to Switzerland, which led to a suspension of the negotiation process.
The reports say that initial technical talks regarding the implementation of an agreement reached in Islamabad between the US and Iran were planned to be held at the Bürgenstock Resort in Switzerland. However, due to the sudden escalation in regional tensions, the Iranian delegation withdrew, leaving the negotiations uncertain.
After the Iranian delegation’s absence, US Vice President J.D. Vance also postponed his planned visit. Sources indicate that the US delegation was already prepared to travel to Switzerland, but changes in the schedule and the postponement of talks led to the decision to cancel the trip for now.
Meanwhile, Switzerland’s Foreign Ministry has also confirmed that the scheduled talks between the United States and Iran will not take place as planned. The ministry said that although detailed reasons were not provided, the program was altered due to changes in the situation.
