Switzerland’s Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the important talks between the United States and Iran will not take place according to the previously scheduled timetable. Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts and attempts to achieve progress between the two countries, uncertainty remains regarding the timing and format of the negotiations.
According to Swiss officials, a meeting between U.S. and Iranian delegations was expected to take place today at the renowned Bürgenstock Resort in Switzerland. However, due to current circumstances, changes have been made to the planned schedule. The Foreign Ministry did not provide further details, fueling speculation about the future of the negotiations.
Meanwhile, a White House spokesperson also confirmed the development, stating that U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance will not travel to Switzerland today. The spokesperson said that arrangements and preliminary planning for the anticipated talks between Iran and the United States have not yet been finalized, and therefore no final schedule has been announced.
The White House added that the U.S. delegation remains prepared to travel to Switzerland, but consultations are still ongoing regarding the timing, venue, and format of the negotiations. This situation has raised doubts about when and how the talks will ultimately take place.
It is worth noting that following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding in Islamabad, preliminary implementation talks between the two countries were scheduled for today. Representatives from Pakistan, Qatar, and other relevant countries were also expected to participate. The objective of these discussions was to reduce regional tensions and advance diplomatic efforts toward stability and cooperation.
