The Punjab government is set to present the budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 in the Punjab Assembly today. The budget session will begin at 2:00 PM, during which details of revenue, expenditures, and development projects for the upcoming financial year will be unveiled. Along with fund allocations for various sectors, several public welfare and relief measures are also expected to be announced.

Prior to the budget presentation, an important meeting of the provincial cabinet will be held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The meeting will review the budget proposals and grant final approval before the budget documents are formally presented in the Punjab Assembly.

Meanwhile, strict security arrangements have been put in place for the budget session. Police and Anti-Riot Force personnel have been deployed in and around the Punjab Assembly to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure smooth proceedings.

According to officials, security has been further tightened in view of possible protests by government employees. Monitoring at entry and exit points has been increased, while additional personnel have been stationed at sensitive locations.

The budget session is being regarded as crucial for the Punjab government, as it will outline the province’s economic priorities, development plans, and public relief initiatives for the upcoming fiscal year.
