During the meeting, the UK Deputy Foreign Secretary praised Pakistan’s role in the recent US-Iran rapprochement. He stated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir played an important and historic role in promoting peace in the region. He further remarked that following the understanding reached between Iran and the United States, Pakistan is now being viewed globally as a champion of peace.
Both leaders agreed to further enhance cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom in various areas, including counterterrorism, illegal immigration, institutional collaboration, and police training.
On the occasion, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the Upscale project is yielding positive results and has significantly improved the capacity of Pakistani institutions. He added that indiscriminate action against illegal immigration and human trafficking is continuing across the country.
The two sides also agreed to work jointly to address the issue of fake student visas. Mohsin Naqvi stated that certain terrorist organizations operating from Afghanistan are involved in activities against Pakistan, emphasizing that the Afghan government must prevent its territory from being used against Pakistan.
The Interior Minister also reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations with the United Kingdom.
The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Talal Chaudhry, and Aoun Chaudhry, along with Interior Secretary Muhammad Khurram Agha, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, the Director General of FIA, the Commandant of the National Police Academy (NPA), and the Director General of NCCIA.
