The Punjab government has presented the budget for the fiscal year 2026–27 with a total volume of Rs 5,903 billion. This budget is 3.1% higher than the previous year.
In the budget, a 55.4% increase target has been set for provincial revenues, while under the NFC Award, Punjab will receive Rs 4,390.94 billion. The provincial revenue target has been set at Rs 1,209.86 billion.
To further improve the tax system, it has been decided to make collections transparent through an e-payment system. Additionally, a 5% discount has been announced on the property tax self-assessment scheme, while a 95% to 99% exemption on token tax for electric vehicles has also been granted.
For the education sector, Rs 750 billion has been allocated. Under the CM Laptop Program, 110,000 laptops will be distributed, while Rs 15 billion has been set aside for the Honhaar Scholarship Program, benefiting 108,000 students. The school meal program budget has been increased to Rs 4 billion, and Rs 24.90 billion has been allocated for establishing IT labs in colleges.
For the health sector, Rs 500 billion has been allocated. The government has announced the continuation of major projects related to cancer, heart, and mental health. Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics and Clinic-on-Wheels are also part of the budget, while heart surgery, dialysis, and transplant programs will continue. For the first time, Rs 1.75 billion has been allocated for neuro-cath labs, and Rs 5 billion has been set aside for improving stroke and emergency services.
For economic development, initiatives under the Punjab Pivot program will be accelerated. Projects such as Asaan Business Card, export finance, industrial estates, and business parks are also part of the budget, along with funding for the promotion of e-business and e-commerce hubs.
Rs 270 billion has been allocated for the Suthra Punjab program. In addition, housing initiatives such as Apni Chhat Apna Ghar and Apni Zameen Apna Ghar will continue.
For agriculture, Rs 132.54 billion has been allocated. Through the Kisan Card, loans will be provided to 825,000 farmers, while the Green Tractor Program and tubewell solarization will continue. Livestock cards and new fisheries projects are also included in the budget.
Under social protection, financial assistance will be provided through programs such as Himmat Card, Dhee Rani Program, Ration Card, Minority Card, and Ramadan Nigahban Package. The South Punjab Poverty Alleviation Program will also continue.
Overall, the budget focuses strongly on public relief, prioritizing education, health, agriculture, and social welfare.
