A significant meeting was held at the office of the Suthra Punjab Authority under the chairmanship of Punjab Minister for Local Government, Zeeshan Rafiq, to review cleanliness arrangements and various preparations.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Local Government Shakeel Ahmad Mian and DG Suthra Punjab Babar Sahib-ud-Din, while Managing Directors of all district Suthra Punjab agencies participated via video link.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on sanitation arrangements along the routes of Muharram processions and at locations of religious gatherings (majalis). The Minister directed that special attention should be given to cleanliness at Imam Bargahs and majalis sites, and all arrangements must be completed in a timely manner.
The Minister also stated that during the monsoon season, cleaning of drains must be ensured to improve the drainage system. He instructed that desilting of all drains should be completed before the monsoon to avoid any possible issues.
It was decided in the meeting that special sanitation teams would be formed during the first ten days of Muharram (Ashura period), and municipal bodies would also provide cold drinking water and other facilities for mourners.
The Provincial Minister instructed all Managing Directors to submit their cleanliness plans on time and emphasized that Deputy Commissioners should fully monitor sanitation operations to ensure better public service delivery.
