During the meeting, both sides agreed to enhance parliamentary ties and strengthen cooperation between the legislative assemblies of Pakistan and the Netherlands. Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan stated that the longstanding relationship between the two countries is based on mutual respect and cooperation.
He emphasized that promoting parliamentary diplomacy and increasing exchanges of parliamentary delegations are essential for further strengthening bilateral relations and providing a new direction to cooperation between the two nations.
The Speaker noted that expanding trade and investment would create new opportunities for shared prosperity, while collaboration in education and research would greatly benefit the younger generation.
He further said that the exchange of experiences between democratic institutions helps improve governance systems, and educational and cultural exchanges among youth contribute to building greater mutual trust and understanding.
Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan also described Punjab’s legislation against child marriage as an important step toward ensuring a safer and more secure future for children.
Netherlands Ambassador Robert Jan Siegel stated that cooperation between the two countries would be further expanded and expressed keen interest in strengthening parliamentary relations.
He described his visit to the Punjab Assembly as a pleasant experience and appreciated the Speaker’s hospitality. Senior officials and parliamentary representatives were also present during the meeting.
