Federal Information Minister Ata Tarar has said that the recently presented budget is being appreciated even by the opposition, while those accustomed to criticism are engaging only in criticism for its own sake.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani, he said that attempts are being made to create a negative environment in the country; however, despite challenging economic conditions, the government has put the economy on a better path.
According to Ata Tarar, the country’s economic situation was previously extremely poor, foreign exchange reserves were at their lowest level, letters of credit for imports were not being opened, and inflation was very high. He added that some circles were also making negative predictions about the economy.
He stated that the current budget provides relief to all sectors, including salaried individuals, industries, and exporters. Salaries of government employees have been increased, while the minimum wage in the private sector has also been raised.
The Federal Information Minister further said that tax relief has been maintained for the IT sector and freelancers to further promote growth in this field. He added that the government has taken important decisions to stabilize the economy, and the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) has steered the country through difficult times.
