Iran has confirmed that its armed forces targeted certain US military bases in the region. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei stated that the operation was carried out under Iran’s right to self-defense.
According to the spokesperson, the United States recently conducted military strikes in southern Iran, which Tehran considers a violation of its sovereignty. He said Iran reserves the right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its security and national interests.
Esmail Baghaei also urged regional countries not to allow their territories to be used for any actions against Iran. He stressed that all nations in the region should act responsibly and play a constructive role in reducing tensions.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson further stated that Iran considers any military installation used against it as a potential target and will not hesitate to defend the country when necessary.
The statement added that the retaliatory action by Iran’s armed forces was conducted in accordance with the principle of self-defense under international law.
Meanwhile, the international community is closely monitoring the escalating tensions, with several countries calling for restraint and emphasizing dialogue as the best path to resolving the crisis.
